Research grants from the American Philosophical Society, University of California, the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace; Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award nominations, for One Hundred Days: Napoleon’s Road to Waterloo, and Trafalgar, Countdown to Battle, 1803-1805; Napoleon Bonaparte second place in category, Best Biography of the Year, of the Los Angeles Times Annual Book Prize, 1997; Napoleon Bonaparte named by Library Journal among the top five biographies of the year 1997, and also nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, Critics Circle Award and National Book Award. A M Schom was the Founder and first President of the French Colonial Historical Society, and Founder and first Editor of research journal, French Colonial Studies.
